Ain’t that the truth? π
β
and we are living in a world inΒ “soul – shock”Β as I call it.
β
Everything that we tend to put under the label of “stress” we could just as easily call soul shock.
β
Our stress filled, addicted society tends to make everything feel urgent, important and on the Go Go Go.
β
We all get pulled out of the flow of our wise or soul self – whether that’s from unresolved trauma, beliefs we hold, or life demands and challenging situations that feel tricky to navigate.
β
βIt’s the soup that we live in.
β
But, as this quote from a recent session suggests, there is that deep and wise part of ourselves that know that everything is unfolding perfectly, there is all the time in the world.
β
That we are always loved and supported by the unseen realm and Source/The universe.
β
Sometimes this is easier to remember than others right?
β
Here’s some easily available ways you can sprinkle that slower, softer time into your days. Unless there is a tiger standing right in front of you – this will help!
β
βIf you are particularly stressed – do them as often as you remember.β
β
- Let you eyes land softly on things that please you for a few mins- even better if it’s something that makes you smile or reminds you of happy times (think plants, pictures, people, funny and cute youtube videos)
β - Smell flowers – I have a honeysuckle tree in my garden that puts me back into flow, makes me smile and my heart open
β - Bring your attention to the gap between your feet and the floor – see if you can imagine that gap – even better with shoes off – bonus points for if you can find grass to stand on. Do this for at least a minute – it does work!
β - Put on some music that matches your mood or, better still, that feels like it “lifts” you in some way and move your body in whatever way it wants to move. Become Ozzy Osborne, well actually maybe not, he’s gone to the “other side” or a chant, or retro pop song – no music judgement here π and change your state for a min.
β - Breathe in for 4, hold for 3 and breath out for 6 or more. Not rushed or forced, the trick is that the breath out is longer than the breath in – its a quick way of engaging all the yummy rest and digest parts of your nervous system. I tend to repeat this at least 3 times.
- β
All of these are designed to bring you out of your stressful mind and back into your body with more frontal lobes engaged and less panic driven amygdala in charge!
β
They aren’t going to radically change your life or make all your problems go away , but they are so, so good to build into your day.Β Small moments over time can actually create bigger shifts than seem possible.Β β
β
And you might be surprised by how much more supported you feel on the inside.
β
Much Love
